Compatability with PF13L130EI

Question:  I have a 13″ wide at the top x 4.5″ deep carbon steel wok with a flat bottom. I am interested in purchasing a PF13L130EI. Will this pan fit properly on this stove?

Answer:  Yes it should fit.

Customer:

Thank you!  I just ordered one but decided to go with the manual ignition and short legs.  I’m looking forward to it’s arrival.

Answer:

we saw the order.  Thanks.  It will go out shortly after Christmas.  Manual one is a better choice.  The electronic ignition part is usually the shorter life part among entire stove.

I want to protect it from rust.

Customer questions:

I recently purchased the PF13CL160 and cover it with a tarp to give it some protection from rain, snow, etc. . Is this model made out of cast iron? I want to protect it from rust. I have been wiping it down with the high temp avacado oil that I use for cooking. The wok burner inside and top have already begun to discolor from the high temperature flame. I want to prevent rust. Please help with this issue.

Outdoorstirfry:

The stove is made of cast iron.  We know that we all desire to keep our stove cosmetically good looking.  But the fact is that not many things survive fire (unless we go on stainless), not to mention high temperature flame.  Paint is no exception. So far our solution is to put the wok upside down with the lid on top of it to cover the stove from rain and snow.  This approach does prolong the time for the burner to get rusted.   We know that rust is not desirable.  Without any good solution, at least it stays as a cosmetic issue.   If you can come up with a better solution, please let us know.

My stove — which I bought from you– just quit working.

Customer Question:

My stove — which I bought from you– just quit working. there is no gas getting to the stove.
Does it need a new regulator?
Can I use a high-pressure regulator, or must it be medium pressure?

Outdoorstirfry:

Did you just replace a 20lbs propane tank?

Customer:

Yes, I’ve tried 2 different, full tanks.

I seems as though the regulator nipple is not able to engage with the tank valve to initiate gas flow.

Outdoorstirfry:

Please look at attached page 2 item 7.  Please use a plumbing wrench to further tighten the connector into the tank.  Inside the tank there is a valve that needs to be pushed open by the regulator connector head.

Let’s us know how it goes.

Customer:

OK– that did it.

Roars like a jet!

I hadn’t had to use a wrench until now– it had worked with hand tightening prior.  I was hesitant to tighten it beyond hand tight– I have a pretty strong grip, too– because it’s aluminum. But that did the trick. Sorry to bother you with something stupid–but I really appreciate your time and help.

Are all medium-pressure regulators rubber-tipped? Are only the low pressure ones made of brass, with the threading on the outside of the nozzle?

Outdoorstirfry:

Glad that you solve the problem.  The outside thread connector is only for US market.  Since we sell more than US market, we still use the original POL type.

Does your burner have similar configuration?

Question:

I missed the black friday sales since I found your site only today.  Do you have any discounts for the PF13* series wok burners?  Also, I am looking for the height from the burner to the wok surface to be very less (for maximum heat), as shown in this picture – http://importfood.com/media/burnerstandhazel_1mc.jpg

Does your burner have similar configuration?   Finally, what is the approx shipping cost to California?

Answer:

Sorry we do not have any more sale date except that Black Friday.   The distance between the rim and the burner in our stoves is generally bigger than the picture you provide.  You can calculate the shipping cost by clicking on your interested stove “Add to Cart” button.  It directs you to a secure paypal web page where you can enter your zip code for an estimate.

Question:

What is the purpose of the raised bracket on top of the rim as seen in this picture?  https://outdoorstirfry.com/images/Products/PF13L160.jpg.  It is there for 1/4 of the rim. Is it to prevent the wok from slipping or..?

Also, does the burner have one ring or two rings of orifices for the gas/flame to come out?

Answer:

It is a high power stove which can give flame all direction.  With ¼ side raised up, the operator (cook) can safely stand beside it for cooking.

The burner has 4 rings of holes.

Please help me decide

Question:

I am a Chinese guy. I would like to stir fry in my grass backyard. I need a burner with adjustable heat and about waist high. I will be using fuel from 20 lb propane tank from the local hardware store. Can you recommend a top of the line model and a good value model for me.

Answer:

PF13L160 is the simplest, most robust, highest heat stove that suits your application.  Bests.

Question:

Do you recommend a cast iron or carbon wok.  I did not pay attention to the wok my family had when I was growing up.  Thanks.

Answer:

Usually cast iron is the best in conveying the heat.  However cast iron is not as strong, so its wok construction is not optimal, typically with two ear handles where one handle is exposed to high heat.   As long as the stove is powerful enough, we would recommend carbon steel wok with one long handle which makes tossing and other handling operations seamless on top of high heat stove.  Bests.

hi, i see the difference in color between configurable (brass) and not configurable version (gray).

Inquiry:   hi, for 13″ high pressure manual ignition propane stoves, i see the difference in color between configurable (brass) and not configurable version (gray). is brass better build quality? thank you.

Answer:  The stove body is always gray.  The configurable adaptor is brass and an additional to the non-configurable version.   If you still see difference, please capture some pictures to email us.

Inquiry:  Thanks. I double checked the picture. The color was off.  I just placed an order online.

What models of stove utilize bottled propane that you by from your local store? Is the bottle propane considered high or low pressure?

Answer:   Two bottles are popular in the market, 20lbs and 1lbs.  20lbs one is used for BBQ, back yard cooking, tailgating etc.  1lbs is mainly used for camping (light weight).  All our stoves can work with the 20lbs propane tank (bottle).  Our configurable stoves can work with both.  Gas coming out direct from bottle is high pressure.
