does it need to be covered against rain and other harsh environment? Does it rust?

Customer (PF13L160):

I’d purchased your amazing outdoor wok through Amazon. First of all, I love it and weather permitting I’ve been using it daily.

Question I have is it is does it need to be covered against rain and other harsh environment? Does it rust?

Outdoorstirfry:

The stove material is cast iron.   Definitely it will rust over the course of its life if encountered moisture/rain.    However rust does not affect the functionality of the stove.   The worst is that the rust becomes so severe that it might plug up some burner holes.  In this case you can use a thick wire to unplug.   The rust of course will affect its look.

The least work to protect the stove is to flip upside down of your wok and to place it on top of the stove after use.   At least this will prevent rain/dust deposit into burner hole.   Some of our customers go to extent of bringing the stove indoor after every use.   In this case they don’t get much rust.

Hope we answer your question.

Customer:

Thank you for your quick reply.  Have you considered selling a cover for this?

Outdoorstirfry:

So far we find the most convenient cover is the wok itself.   If you need bigger area cover, canvas from any hardware store can be considered.   Since canvas is plastic, caution is needed if the stove is still hot or wind is strong.   We will keep your request in mind to search for better protection.
