Differences of 160EI and 160IEI and Stand Question

Inquiry:

I see the FAQ about the differences of 160EI and 160IEI. Other than the separate knobs, is one system more reliable than the other or lower maintenance? If the electronic ignition has issues, are there parts to replace? Is there any warranty on the wok burners?

I am interested in the steel stand, but see it is currently out of stock. How does the powerflamer 160 mounted/secured to the stand?

Outdoorstirfry:

Both systems should have about the same reliability and maintenance.   Some people prefer integrated knob control while others prefer separate control.   Since the IEI ignition has a cover, the cover can protect better the ignition section to be damaged in case the stove falls.   If the electronic ignition has issue, its entire assembly will need to be replaced entirely.  We support our customers on whatever problem they are facing.  However, we don’t offer any warranty.

On how to use the stand, you can look at the “Usage Examples” section of the product web page.

Inquiry:

Is the stand plug and play or do you need to install it?.  Also is the stand more sturdier?

Outdoorstirfry:

The stand goes as parts.  Customer will need to install it.  Installing it is straight forward.   We don’t provide installation guide.   The stand is quite light weight, 11lbs.  It does not provide better stability than the stabilizer approach.  To increase stability, heavy objects like concrete block/bricks are needed to be placed on the stand.  For usage examples, please see “Usage Examples” section of the product page https://outdoorstirfry.com/product/stove-stand-stainless/.

Inquiry:

Is the stove significantly more stable in the cart compared to when it’s on legs?  Does the stove cover fit over the cart as well? If not, do you know of a cover that does?

Outdoorstirfry:

The stand is quite light weight, 11lbs.  It does not provide better stability than the stabilizer approach.  To increase stability, heavy objects like concrete block/bricks are needed to be placed on the stand.  For usage examples, please see “Usage Examples” section of the product page https://outdoorstirfry.com/product/stove-stand-stainless/.

Our stove cover fits the stand as well.  For pictures, please see “Usage Examples” section of the product https://outdoorstirfry.com/product/stove-cover/

Inquiry:

Will the stove stand with bricks to weigh it down be more stable than the stabilizer approach? My #1 concern is that the setup doesn’t tip over.

Outdoorstirfry:

With heavy objects on both stand and stabilizers, stability depends on joints in the system.  For the stand, joints are between legs and top cover, between legs and lower shelf.  For the stabilizers, joints are between the stabilizers and legs, between legs and stoves.   In this case the stand might provide slight better stability.

how do the leg stabilizers work

Inquiry:

how do the leg stabilizers work / can they be ordered separately if needed in the future / do you think they are necessary for a 14″ wok?

Outdoorstirfry:

Please view the “Usage Examples” section on the stabilizer product page https://outdoorstirfry.com/product/long-leg-stabilizer-for-long-leg-stoves/ on how they work.   You can order them separately.   IF your cooking does not involve with tossing the wok on the stove side, you don’t need the stabilizers.  We are daily user to the stove and we don’t use stabilizers since we don’t toss the food during cooking.

PowerFlamer Stove height

Inquiry:

Hello, I was going to order a PowerFlamer 160 but wanted to make sure of a couple things. I am building an outdoor kitchen and plan to have the counter at about 30-32 inches. Will setting the short leg model on a counter that high be uncomfortably high to use? I’m pretty tall (6′) so I think it’ll be ok, just want the expert opinion.

Alternatively, do you know if anyone has built one of these units into the counter of an outdoor kitchen? If so, any advice on how to do it?

Outdoorstirfry:

Our long leg version height is 30″~32”.   Some of our tall customers (>6’) actually request another 6” in height to 36″~38” total height.  The criterion to judge is your elbow height.   When you hold the wok, you would prefer the stove + wok (~4”) total height to be a bit lower (~4″) than your elbow (with you standing on ground), such that when you lift the wok, your forearm is at the most comfortable position.

We do have a lot of customers who build our products into their outdoor kitchens.  You usually get the short leg version, cut a hole that is a bit smaller that the top of the wind guard, such that the wind guard can sit into the hole.

How much heat come out of the bottom of the burner?

Inquiry:

How much heat come out of the bottom of the burner?  I’m considering putting the short leg version on top of a tiled table outdoor and need to know if the heat will damage the tile.

Outdoorstirfry:

For normal operation, the bottom should not see any flame.   When you see flame coming out of bottom side holes (including burner pipe hole), the stove top side has too much blockage or you will need to limit the power of the stove.   The bottom of the stove functions to bring fresh air for burner to burn and vent flame to top correctly.   During normal operation, the bottom should remain cool.

Difference between PowerFlamer 160EI and 160IEI

Inquiry:

I am trying to determine the difference between your Powerflamer 160EI and the Powerflamer 160IEI. Is the ignition and throttle just wrapped in a more aesthetic enclosure on the 160IEI? Do both units perform the same?

Outdoorstirfry:

PowerFlamer 160EI has separate knobs for ignition and main burner flame control.  PowerFlamer 160IEI has one knob for both ignition and main burner flame control.  The control of the PowerFlamer 160IEI is closer to indoor gas range knob.

What is the difference between 5B burner and yours?

Inquiry:

What is the difference between 5B burner and your PowerFlamer 160 stoves?   Check this out on Amazon – High Pressure Burner Propane Iron Wok Burner 5B Fast Stove 100,000 BTU https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07JNK5CHG/ref=cm_sw_r_em_api_glt_i_AQJM50KWN4CHH6M21F0W?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

Outdoorstirfry

Comparing to this 5B burner on amazon, here are some advantages of our stoves:

1.  We have long leg option;

2.  We have configurable option for 1lb. propane bottle;

3.  We provide spider guard;

4.  We have stabilizers for long legs;

5.  Our hose has stainless braid;

6.  Our paint lasts much longer before rust starts;

7.  this Amazon stove product may only provide two main power setting.  And the seller may not be able to tell you as they are wholesaler, not technical at all;

8.  We are designer and builder of our own stove, we know inside out and have our own patents.   We support our products from a sky high expert point of view.

List can be longer, but let’s stop at above 8 points.

Inquiry:

I like the electrical burner, but I’m worried the electrical switch will eventually wear out. However, Im assuming the manual burner will not, since less parts.  If electrical switch does wear out, will it easily convert to manual burner?

Also, does manual burner have the spider guard?

Also, I heard people complain about the hose not fitting securely on some wok burners.  Does your model have clamps to remedy this issue?

Thanks for listening to me.

Outdoorstirfry:

When the electric igniter fails, you can use a long nose BBQ igniter to ignite the main burner directly.   You are operating it as a manual stove without a pilot flame.

The manual stove has its spider guard.

Our PowerFlamer 160/120 stoves do not use clamp.   Our hose connection is patent pending.   The hose connection to the stove should be tight and meet local code.

Inquiry:

One last question, have you done any new remodeling on the manual stove other than spider guard?  I’m leaning towards purchasing this one because I’m a cheapskate and don’t mind using long nose lighter ?  Thanks!

Outdoorstirfry:

Here is the list of improvement on our manual PowerFlamer stove:

  1. Spider guard;
  2. Much long lasting paint;
  3. Top burner plate secured;
  4. Hose clamp removed;
  5. Stainless braided hose;
  6. ACME type 1 QCC tank connector;
  7. Long-Leg-able;
  8. Configurable to 1lb. propane bottle;
  9. Continuous flame adjustability.

Questions on Tank/Bottle, Stabilizers, Pilot Flame for PowerFlamer 160.

Inquiry:

Hi, Do I have to buy a tank or bottle with the 160 long lead time model? I’d like to not have to do this. Also, what exactly do the leg stabilizers do? How do they work? And does the cover custom fit the burner or is simply a square tarp? Lastly, is there a pilot flame without the electric ignition start or the pilot flame only exists if you have the electric ignition option?

Outdoorstirfry:

  1.  We do not sell tank or bottle.   You will need to get them from your local hardware store or gas station.  We only sell stove that works with tank or bottle.
  2. When people cooks, they may toss the food in the wok.  Since the food can be heavy, lifting the wok from stove may not be complete.   The result is that the wok is carrying the stove to a tilt.   Leg stabilizers help to stabilize the stove.   Please look at the “Usage Examples” section at the product link https://outdoorstirfry.com/product/long-leg-stabilizer-for-long-leg-stoves/.
  3. The stove cover is a custom hand-made piece for our stove.   Please look at the “Usage Examples” section at the product link https://outdoorstirfry.com/product/stove-cover/.
  4. The electronic ignition version does not have a pilot flame.   The electronic ignition flame needs to be completely turn off after the main burner is ignited.   Our manual version has the pilot flame that can stay during cooking.

Hope we answer your questions.   Let us know any further question.

Quick Connector compatibility

Inquiry

I am considering an outdoor wok burner, probably natural gas since we have natural gas service.

I have a question about the quick-connect https://outdoorstirfry.com/product/powerflamer-natural-gas-120-with-quick-connector/ – is the quick-connect the same as the one used for Weber grills? Specifically, the same 3/8″ quick disconnect used by the various 3-burner Natural Gas Weber grills?

(I’m hoping to be able to use the existing quick connect and avoid a truck roll) Thanks!

Outdoorstirfry

I believe our quick connector can work with existing installation for grill.  However if it does not, we will provide a 3/8” socket for you to install on your natural gas line.   Hope we answer your question.
