We did an experiment with >50lbs (>24qt of water) weight on top of EF13SQN50WG. It holds up very well. Also please note that this is an outdoor stove. See picture below. Bests.

Can a 9inch Cast Iron Grate fit on top of the surface?

The burner ring diameter is 13″. A 9″ grate will probably sit on top of the burner ring, not good as it will be subject to all flame.
