Why do I have to order the Power Flamer 160 with a tank or bottle?

Inquiry:

Why do I have to order the Power Flamer 160 with a tank or bottle? How can I delete the tank or bottle from the order?

Outdoorstirfry:

You are only ordering a stove with options.   The tank or bottle option is to select if the stove can work with tank only or both tank and bottle.   The order does not include a tank nor a bottle.

Wok Size?

Customer:

I’m ordering a wok.  They look nice but quite heavy so there’s a size tradeoff for handling/flipping (size options 32cm: 2kg, 34cm: 2.2kg, 36cm: 2.4kg). I saw you recommended larger 14in+ woks for the PowerFlamer, and I know the Plus is the larger burner unit. In your experience: would smaller 32cm (12.5″) woks be uncomfortable to use on the Plus (e.g. because the hand is too close to the heat)?

Outdoorstirfry:

The reason for us to recommend >=14″ wok is safety.   If the wok diameter is <13″, stove flame can come in direct contact with the wok long handle.   No matter if the long handle is of wood or metal, it is not safe for human handling.    Wok >14″ can assure that the long handle is outside of the stove wind guard area.   The long handle should operate within the range in the picture below.  This upright area on the wind guard prevents the stove flame from reaching outside.  It provides a safe operating area for wok handle.

Why foot pedal option only available on manual ignition stove?

Inquiry:

Hello, I have a quick question about the pedal option that is available? I’ve noticed it’s only available with the manual igniter. What does the pedal do exactly? So it’s not possible to have the electric igniter and the pedal?

Outdoorstiry:

The foot pedal controls the main burner flame.   It relies on a pilot flame to re-ignite the main burner.   A pilot only exists in a manual ignition stove.   This is why foot pedal option does not apply to any electronic ignition stove.    For more detail how the foot pedal works, please watch https://outdoorstirfry.com/powerflamer-propane-160-manual-stove-with-foot-pedal/?v=0b3b97fa6688.

Can <13″ pan work on the stove?

Inquiry:

Hello!  I am considering the 160 plus, and am wondering about compatibility with regular pans. I see in the archives that you typically recommend a diameter greater than 13in. My largest pan is 12.5in, and I was wondering how it would fit on the powerflamer 160. Could I reasonably cook with a 12.5in on the powerflamer? Would it just nestle down into the ring a little lower since the wok ring slopes inward? Do you happen to have any photos of the powerflamer with different sized pans?

And what is the lowest BTU output you can adjust to on the burner? I certainly won’t need anywhere near max heat when cooking with a regular pan, and want to make sure I can adjust to a low enough flame.  Thank you very much!

Outdoorstirfry:

If a pan is less than 13″, it may sit on the stove wok support.  However, the entire pan, including your pan’s long handle,  is exposed to the flame.   This is not safe to handle.  Thus,  <13″ is not recommended.    We don’t have any photo of pan sitting on the stove.

The stove output is continuous.  Its flame can be controlled to its minimum.  However, the burner is 5~6″ below the top of the stove wind guard.   Its flame will not be small if it is used to heat a pan.

Adaptor and other questions from Germany

Customer (PF13S160):

Hi OutdoorStirfryTeam,   I am located in gernany. I am interested in buying a short legged, manual ignition Powerflamer (not sure if 5b or 6b burner).

I saw in one of the biggest bbq forum in germany, that a forum member bought a powerflamer 160 beginning of the year.

Can you let me know,

– how much the shipment to germany cost at present?

– i see, that i can order with a certain lead time (e.g. paypal, preferred). But how can I pay you the shipment fee?

I am aware that customs and duties are paid by me.

Thank you and Best Regards.

Outdoorstirfry:

Our PowerFlamer propane 160 uses 5B burner and PowerFlamer propane 160 plus uses 6B burner.   Shipping charge to Germany is US$XXX.  You will pay the shipping charge together when ordering the stove on our website.   Lead time from order to ship is ~X weeks.   Paypal is our payment gateway, accepting credit card.   You are responsible for import duty/VAT/brokerage fee etc..    There might be a need of an adaptor between the stove and your tank, please read https://outdoorstirfry.com/?s=tank+adaptor.

Customer:

Thank you very much for your response. I placed my order on may 5th.:-)

Regarding adaptor. Unfortunately I cant open the link, but  I already know which adapter to use for the tank,  as I asked for this Information in the german bbq forum.

There is one additional Information that would help me, as I am considering to attach a quickconnector (propane) to the hose.

Is it a 5/8 UNF or a 3/8 connection?
Here is the link to the german Forum
Your burner is on page 32.

https://www.grillsportverein.de/forum/threads/zeigt-her-eure-wok-stationen.130809/page-32

User Lxey bought your burner and I asked some questions, before contacted you.

Outdoorstirfry:

The thread should be 3/8″ UNC.     Since our stove uses high pressure propane gas, we would not recommend any quick connector.    Let us know if you find any quick connector set that can handle fuel gas and with what pressure rating.

What does it mean by fixed installation?

Inquiry:

What does it mean by fixed installation?  I think i know what quick connect is.   Do you have pictures of both?

Outdoorstirfry:

For natural gas stove, for example of a fixed installation is below.  The hose connection is not meant for easy disconnection, thus a fixed installation purpose.  For more detail, please read You searched for difference fixed installation and quick connect – outdoorstirfry.com

Can’t pre-order

Inquiry:

Hello. I’d like to order the 160 plus and the web page says you can pre-order it but when I tried to add it to the cart, it said it’s out of stock. I signed up for the email notification when it’s back in stock. I wanted to double check if I can pre-order it? Thanks.

Outdoorstirfry:

When material for a product is out of stock, we stop updating the webpage.   That “pre-order” is not true.   You could only subscribe.   Sorry for the confusion.

Understanding lead time

Inquiry:

Hello. I am not understanding the lead time. Is it 2-3 weeks from when I order?

What is the realistic lead time for when you will get these back in stock. I imagine you’re waiting for enough orders to reorder your inventory? Is it close?

Outdoorstirfry:

If a product is not orderable on its webpage, we stop updating its lead time information.   Only when it is orderable, its lead time is meaningful.   The lead time is an estimated time from order to ship time.   Ship time is extra and varies on your shipping address.

Stove questions

Inquiry:

Hello,  I’m from Portland Oregon and I was interested in buying your wok, I just have a couple questions.

1). If I order the wok with legs, are they easily removeable for transportation and easy to reapply the legs? I normally camp out of my car and I’ll do no legs if they’re inconvenient to remove.

2). Is there a lot of heat that comes out of the bottom of the wok? I normally cook on a plastic table but want to know if I need to upgrade to metal camping table. Do you think a metal baking tray beneath the wok, but on top of a plastic table be an option?

3). I’m thinking of going with the manual ignition, that requires me to use a lighter every time to light it up right? No pilot flame? Then longevity of the manual is more reliable than electric ignition? How long do you think the electric ignition would last? I could technically transition to manual ignition with a lighter if the electric fails?

4). Is rust a big issue with the wok? I live in rainy Oregon and that is a risk. Is there a way of preventing rust?

5). All woks sold today are the newest 6B style?

Outdoorstirfry:

  1. The long legs can be easily detachable from the base plate of the stove.
  2. The base plate and short legs of the stove can get warm.  Placing the short leg stove directly on top of a plastic tabletop is not advisable.   Placing the stove on a metal baking tray should help.
  3. Manual ignition stove goes with a pilot flame.   You only need to light it once.    Electronic ignition does not go with any pilot light; it needs to be lit every time.
  4. Rust can produce yellow flame and create soot to bottom of a wok.  Cleaning should restore the stove performance.
  5. Only PowerFlamer propane 160 plus version goes with a 6B burner.
