Purpose of the regulator

Customer (PF13CS160)

I had a quick question regarding the regulator for the Powerflamer 160 I bought in March 2022. I see that the regulator model, painted red, is “XXXX XD01” but cannot find much information online with respect to what the PSIG is limited to. Do you have this information?

As a curiosity, if I get a longer hose without a regulator (and control the 20lb tank’s pressure using the tank valve), would that work in theory? Is the regulator here only used for fine flame control?

Outdoorstirfry:

The regulator output is XXX PSI.   The stove needs a constant gas pressure to operate.  If you get a longer hose, please connect after the regulator.  The tank pressure can vary widely from 50PSI to 350PSI.   This will put the stove and people around to danger.  Please do not operate the stove without the regulator.

I ordered a high pressure regulator last month and I’ve been having problems with it.

Customer (High Pressure Regulator):

I ordered a high pressure regulator last month and I’ve been having problems with it.  The gas comes out slowly and I’m not able to get the high power flame.  Can you provide a solution?  Thank you.

Outdoorstirfry:

Can you watch video #1 on page https://outdoorstirfry.com/?page_id=768.   The regulator needs to give two clicking sounds after you turn on the tank valve.   These two sounds can sometime space out as long as 1 minute.   Please don’t turn on any thing before the 2nd clicking sound as the regulator is checking for leak.   When leak is detected, the regulator refuses to give full pressure.   Let us know any further question.

Propane regulator is defective and won’t allow propane from Propane tank and through the hose

The regulator has a leak protection feature. When activated, it reduces gas flow to the burner. Please re-read item 8 2~4 paragraphs of attached user guide. Before turning on the propane tank top valve, please shut off all stove valves (left and right). Turning on the tank valve there should be one immediate clicking sound from the regulator. After up to 1 minute, the regulator will give another clicking sound indicating completing its leak detection process. Only after this 2nd click, the burner can be turned on. Otherwise the regulator refuses to give full pressure.

Let us know if you still have problem getting full pressure. We did test every stove before shipping. It was functioning correctly before we ship to you.

Customer:

I followed your instructions and printed out the PDF you sent along with it I wished I would’ve had that information in the box when I receive the item . It now works great thank you,

Outdoorstirfry

We stop sending hard copy instruction more than 10 years ago. When we ship, we send out our customer the shipping information along with the installation guide in PDF.

Glad that you are able to overcome the problem.

Send me a link to a correct regulator that I can purchase for PF13L160

Customer (PF13L160):

If possible, would you be able to send me a link to a correct regulator that I can purchase, just in case?  I don’t want to get the wrong one if I have to pick one up.

Outdoorstirfry

We don’t have it as a separate item for sale.   The closest one is our 0-30PSI adjustable regulator at this link https://outdoorstirfry.com/?page_id=338#0-30Regulator.   This will require customer to find a ¼” MPT x 3/8” hose barb fitting at its output port in order to mate with the hose.

Typically we support our products as much as we can.  Most convenient way is still to ask us for help.
