I would like to know what the difference is between PF13L160 and PF13CL160.

Inquiry:

I would love to hear when they are back in stock. Also I would like to know what the difference is between those two.

Outdoorstirfry:

You are in the to-be-notified list now.

About the difference between PF13L160 and PF13CL160, PF13L160 will only work with a 20lbs propane tank.  PF13CL160 can work with a 20lbs propane tank or a 1lb propane bottle.  Bests.

Is there any modification to the tip of the pilot light?

Customer (PF13L160):

Is there any modification to the tip of the pilot light that would make it easier to light and keep lit? The control valve is too sensitive and the flame is small and blows out frequently.

Outdoorstirfry:

Can you look at 2nd video at this link https://outdoorstirfry.com/?page_id=768 to see if it helps?   I agree that a small flame at windy condition outdoor will be difficult to remain lit.   In that case it is better to light the main burner before cooking for every dish.  We will try to improve on how it can be lit in next generation.  However I don’t think we can solve for the windy situation.  Let us know how it goes.

what is thin brass tube leading to the burner used for?

Customer (PF13L160):

Thank you so much! I am very excited to use this, and have been wanting one for several years. They look well engineered for wok cooking.  Cheers.

I received the 13″ wok burner and everything looks great. It set up in a breeze and we are very excited to use it. I think you have designed a very good product. Thank you!

Outdoorstirfry:

thank you.  Let us know any feedback after using it for a while.

Customer:

Will do thank you! Oh, one question. One of the dials controls pressure from the thin brass tube leading to the burner. When and what is this used for?

Outdoorstirfry:

The right valve is controlling gas to the thin copper tube as the pilot flame.  You can turn off the main burner between dishes if the pilot flame is lit.  We have a video (2nd one) on page https://outdoorstirfry.com/?page_id=768 on how to light the pilot flame.  Alternately you can choose not to use the pilot at all by turning the main burner really low between dishes.

Customer:

Ok that makes sense, thanks for clearing that up.  Cheers!

Wok burner is awesome!!! Very powerful, easy to use! Thanks again!

Outdoorstirfry:

this is great!  We are glad that you are satisfied.

hole in an outdoor kitchen tabletop

Customer (PF13SFN160):

Just got delivery yesterday (the PF13SFN160) and it looks great. Thank you!

Is there way to install it as a burner by making a hole in an outdoor kitchen tabletop? As in, have the grey wok ring above the countertop and most/all of the windguard and base below? Or is there a need to have airflow come in under the windguard such that the whole unit needs to be above the counter?

Sorry for the silly question , but figured you’d know best. Any photos of outdoor kitchen installations that your other customers have done would be most appreciated.

Outdoorstirfry:

The stove needs air inflow from bottom of the wind guard.  You can in-build the stove under the counter top.  But your hole needs to have holes that can supply air to the bottom of the wind guard/burner.   Hope we answer your question.

Is there any wok ring that can fit this burner?

Customer (PF13L160):

Thank you for sending the wok burner.  I was wondering, is there any wok ring that can fit this burner? The edges on the surface that the wok currently sits in are quite rough, and makes it difficult to flip on. Plus, it is scratching up the bottom of my wok.  Thank you.

Outdoorstirfry:

The bottom of your wok should not have any coating, scratching a bit is OK.   The little saw teeth on the wok ring adaptor are to hold on the wok when you tilt it during cooking.  These are probably the area scratching the bottom of your wok.    If we make these teeth too smooth, the wok will slip and can NOT be tilt.

I ordered a high pressure regulator last month and I’ve been having problems with it.

Customer (High Pressure Regulator):

I ordered a high pressure regulator last month and I’ve been having problems with it.  The gas comes out slowly and I’m not able to get the high power flame.  Can you provide a solution?  Thank you.

Outdoorstirfry:

Can you watch video #1 on page https://outdoorstirfry.com/?page_id=768.   The regulator needs to give two clicking sounds after you turn on the tank valve.   These two sounds can sometime space out as long as 1 minute.   Please don’t turn on any thing before the 2nd clicking sound as the regulator is checking for leak.   When leak is detected, the regulator refuses to give full pressure.   Let us know any further question.

Product suggestion

Inquiry:

Can you help me with product selection? Looking for high output, propane tank only, work burner with legs.

Question. Are there any special advantage to electronic ignition?  (Very easy for me to use stick lighter and electronic ignition feels like more things tat could go wrong.) Also, I see that there is a new design coming in 2021. Does this effect the manual ignition version also? Will you soon be closing out the 2020 electronic ignition versions?

Outdoorstirfry:

Based upon your description, we would suggest PF13L160.

Very good questions.   The advantage of electronic ignition is that you don’t have to have a manual long nose BBQ ignitor when the electronic ignition works.  I agree with you.  More part can go wrong sooner.  Electronic ignition can last probably on average 2~3 years in outdoor all weather situation.  Our electronic ignition version is already out of stock for rest of 2020.   Our manual version will go out of stock in about a month.

The new generation will affect both electronic and manual ignition versions as they share most parts.

Inquiry:

What will be the differences in the new model? (Trying to decide if to order now or wait for the new version).  Application will be amateur home cook.  Not-regular use.

How do your units compare to the similar Manniu burners?

Outdoorstirfry:

The new generation improves a few areas such as paint, flame, legs and regulator.

We did not come out of these products out of blue.  Originally we were just regular user like you, starting buying from product sold like by Manniu to cook.  Then we were not satisfied on them and started to modify them.  The moment we were notified that we got issue of patent rights, we realized that we have to have money to pay to the government.   And here are the products you can buy with 15~20 years of improvements on them.

Inquiry:

And thank you for the insights into the 2021 model.  In your opinion, are the upgrades worth waiting for or would I be perfectly satisfied with the 2020 version you recommended?  (I will go with the manual ignition)

Outdoorstirfry:

You should be fully satisfied with existing version if you don’t care rust.  The existing one is silver color in all.  The new one will have more than one color among different parts.

Inquiry:

Are there useful functional upgrades to the burner and controls in the 2021 PF13L160 or are most of the changes cosmetic?

Do some people paint your burners with high heat enamel to reduce the rust and change the color?

Outdoorstirfry:

New paint will prevent rust much better.  New legs will improve stability.  We will make flame more consistent among different products.   Yes, people can buy paint and paint themselves.
