Installed directly on the counter?

Inquiry:

Hello,  I would like to install this as part of my outdoor kitchen, if we build a hole on our concrete counter, can the burner be installed directly on the counter? I assume we order the short leg version? Is there anything else to keep in mind?

Outdoorstirfry:

Do you intend to use propane or natural gas version?

Inquiry:

Propane.

Outdoorstirfry:

If you intend to use PowerFlamer propane 160 short leg stove, the easiest way is to cut a hole of 11” on you cook top.  The short leg PowerFlamer propane 160 stove can sit into the hole.  Please allocate empty space height of 12~15” below the hole for the stove and its inlet control valves.   This empty space needs to have armful fresh air access.  Let us know any further questions.

Is Electronic Ignition Option a Separate Tool?

Inquiry:

Is the electronic ignition option a separate tool?  https://outdoorstirfry.com/product/powerflamer-propane-160-long-lead-time/

Outdoorstirfry:

The right knob on the valve assembly of the EI option controls the electronic ignition.  It is built into the valve assembly, not separate.  The left knob controls the main burner flame.  After the main burner flame is lit, the electronic ignition flame needs to be turned off.

What weight can PowerFlamer propane stove support?

Inquiry:

Can this support the weight of a Lodge cast iron wok (11.86 lbs)?

Outdoorstirfry:

If the weight of your wok + food is < 35 lbs, our long leg stove can support it.  Anything heavier please remove the long legs and use the resultant short leg version on a sturdy table surface.

Accommodating Skillet?

Inquiry:

Would this only be appropriate for wok cooking? I’m looking for something that I can also use a large cast iron skillet on.

Outdoorstirfry:

If your skillet diameter is >13”, it can sit on top of the stove.   The skillet may not be as stable as a wok on top of the stove.

Stand for PowerFlamer natural gas stoves

Inquiry:

Hi: I want to make sure before I order…will the wok stove stand work with the Power Flamer natural gas stove? The webpage for the wok stove stand says it will work with the Power Flamer propane stove, but it doesn’t state that it will work with the natural gas stove.

Outdoorstirfry:

the stand does not work wit the natural gas stove.

Inquiry:

Thank you. Is there an alternative stand for the natural gas stove?

Outdoorstirfry:

The natural gas wind guard construction is different and can not be supported by the stand.   We don’t have a stand product for it.  There are customers who build their own cart or cook station to support it if not willing to use stabilizers.

Comparison to commercial burners

Inquiry:

Hi,   I’m just getting into the wok world so bear with me since I’m still learning. I have a couple quick questions.

– How does the PowerFlamer 160 compare to commercial heavy duty wok ranges? The setup looks quite similar assuming I get the stand. The one I’m looking at is

Radiance TAWR-13 17-7/8″x34-1/8″ Wok Gas Range Duck Burner 13″ Opening https://www.acitydiscount.com/Radiance-17-7-8-x34-1-8-Wok-Gas-Range-Duck-Burner-13-Opening-TAWR-13.0.168474.1.1.htm

Spec sheet:  https://pics.acitydiscount.com/specs/TAWR-13.pdf

– How do you calculate the BTU for the PowerFlamer? It looks like it’s high than most commercial woks out there.

– Will I be able to leave the PowerFlamer outdoors through rain and winter assuming I use a cover? Will there be concerns around condensation and parts getting wet or corroded?

Thanks so much.

Outdoorstirfry:

Thanks for the links to Radiance burner.   It is interesting.

  1. Radiance burner is 4 times as heavy as PowerFlamer.   It will be more stable than PowerFlamer.   With 130lbs, you need one or two more persons to help you set it up.   This is not a problem in commercial environment as they pay to install the entire kitchen anyway.  Our stove is portable, easily handled by one person in the home environment.  It is easier to compare Radiance burner with our PowerFlamer natural gas stoves.  Both use jet type burners.  Radiance requires ¾” connection, which is typical for commercial installation.   You will pay a professional plumber for installation.    We develop our stoves specially for residential usage.  Our installation process is easier to apply for residential.   Homeowner handyman typically sets it up themselves.
  2. We build prototype and test to get our BTU number with typical residential natural gas line.
  3. With a cover, the stove should be protected well from direct rain and snow.  However, since it is exposed all the time outdoor, it is still subject to moisture.   Stove body and burner can develop rust.  This does not affect performance and functioning of the stove, only to its look.   In fact, we have been using the same stove body for last 20 years in our own backyard.

Hope we answer your question.

Do you have a return policy?

Inquiry:

Do you have a return policy? I am purchasing for a gift.

Outdoorstirfry:

If the item has not be used, you can pay to return it.  Once received, we will refund.   Please note our box is heavy.  Shipping charge from carrier ranges from $50~$700 depending on where you ship from.   We will not be responsible for the money of your return.

Since we paid the carrier to ship out, theoretically we should refund only your stove purchase, i.e., your total minus shipping charge.   Basically, you will need to pay for the return and our shipping out part.   Besides, we do spend significant time making for your order and item coming back may have shipping damage.   This is a lose-lose situation.   So, we strongly suggest you not to make the purchase if you already think of return.

We are not like some giant online 3rd party platform – choose only to please the purchasing side (customers) only.   Every time I go to a carrier store, I can see >half of the boxes are returns to them.  We support our customers fully.  But we must consider how to survive each transaction as well.

Temperature Range of the Stove

Inquiry:

What is the outdoor temperature range that this can be used?  I live in Canada and wonder if it is something I can use year round?

Outdoorstirfry:

If you can get gas pressure from your tank > xxPSI, you should be able to use it.   Do you use BBQ grill all year round?  If yes, you should be able to use the stove all year around.  In Wisconsin, I had experience cooking with ground covered with snow.

What are the stabilizers?

Inquiry:

What are the stabilizers?

Outdoorstirfry:

When people toss their wok during cooking, wok is heavy and may not fully be lifted off from the stove.   Consequently, the stove is carried by the wok and may fall.   The stabilizers are to make the stove sturdier.   For how to use the stabilizers, please refer the “Usage Examples” section of the product page https://outdoorstirfry.com/product/long-leg-stabilizer-for-long-leg-stoves/.

If your cooking style does not involve with tossing, you don’t need to consider the stabilizers.
