What is the difference between the PowerFlamer 160 and the PowerFlamer 160 Plus?

Inquiry (Dec 25, 2024):

What is the difference between the PowerFlamer 160 and the PowerFlamer 160 Plus?

Outdoorstirfry (Dec 25, 2024):

The main difference between PowerFlamer propane 160 and Plus is the burner size.  PowerFlamer Propane 160 has our optimized 5B burner.  PowerFlamer Propane 160 Plus utilizes a bigger 6B burner.   There is an article comparing both burners by a customer at https://outdoorstirfry.com/customer-feedbacks/burner-comparison-among-powerflamer-propane-160-stoves/.  Both offer manual ignition option.  For electronic ignition option, PowerFlamer Propane 160 offers the traditional separate knob ignition option while the Plus incorporates the integrated ignition option by one single knob.

Max power rating for both should be the same.  PowerFlamer propane 160 plus has our new 6B burner.  Its flame pattern and adjustment are not perfect.   We expect 1~2 years to improve.   PowerFlamer 160 has our optimized 5B burner.  Its flame and adjustment are optimally tuned.

Inquiry (Feb 11, 2026):

According to this page you’ve been working on getting the new model better, has it been done?

Outdoorstirfry (Feb 11, 2026):

No fully done but already has significant improvement.   This usually takes ~2 years.

Inquiry (Feb 11, 2026):

Thanks. Is it something I can buy now and fine-tune later myself or we’d have to wait until you’re completely done with improvement?

Outdoorstirfry (Feb 11, 2026):

No problem for the stove to be functional for now.  As we provide continue to support the products, there is no worry to buy for now.  Improvements in the future will benefit long term reliability/robustness/maintenance free, more on quality side.

Inquiry (Feb 12, 2026):

How is the burner on the 160EI PLUS vs the 160 EI.  Any issues with the flame on the 6 inch or is the 5 inch the way to go on reliability?

Outdoorstirfry (Feb 12, 2026):

The comparison link I sent in earlier email https://outdoorstirfry.com/faq/what-is-the-difference-between-the-powerflamer-160-and-the-powerflamer-160-plus/ applies to any EI version as well.   Improvement for EI plus version is the same to manual plus version.

We integrate the wind guard and the wok support ring.

For the latest generation PowerFlamer propane 160 stoves as of December 2022, we have integrated the wind guard and the wok support ring.  Integration of wind guard and wok support ring enables smooth flame flow from the burner to the wok and outside.   For the detail look of the new wind guard, please visit out product page at https://outdoorstirfry.com/product/powerflamer-propane-160-long-lead-time/.

During cooking, wok handle is preferred not subjecting to direct flame for safety of the cook.   Typical wok support has one long vertical wall to accommodate the wok handle by fencing off the flame .   The new wind guard provides flexibility allowing final installation with three options to mount on to the burner base plate, thus enabling 3 preferred positions for wok handle as below.

Position 1 with wok handle to the front of the stove.

Wind guard position 1

Wok Position 1

Position 2 is 120 degrees counter clockwise from the front of the stove.

Position 3 is 120 degrees clockwise from the front of the stove.

Long Leg PowerFlamer Propane 160 Stove into Stove Stand?

Customer (PF13L160EI):

I recently ordered the PowerFlamer Propane 160 with Long Legs.  If I should get the Stove Stand in the future, can I remove the Long Legs on the PowerFlamer 160 and use it in the stainless stand?

Outdoorstirfry:

If you remove the long legs, the stove becomes the short leg version.   You can then insert it into the stove stand

Connecting PowerFlamer Stove to House Stationary Propane Line

Customer (PF13L160):

I was wondering if I can use the wok burner connected to my house’s stationary gas tank instead of a portable tank.

Outdoorstirfry:

IF your line from your stationary tank has >30PSI pressure, yes the stove will work.   However what we learn is that stationary tank typically has a master regulator that step down to too low pressure before connecting to the line to feed the house.   In this case you will need to install another line in front of the master regulator.   This new line pressure needs to be > 30 PSI but < 250PSI.

Wok burner

Inquiry:

I am interested in buying a high quality wok burner. I live the Manniu. X76. how does your burner compare. What model would you have that would be comparable?

Outdoorstirfry:

Just to clarify, are you using a Manniu X76 now?   Where can we take a look at it?

Inquiry:

I do not have a Manniu at all right now. I love the infrared concept of the burner for its efficiency on gas. Her is a like to what it looks like. I like that the can has fins to hold the wok that are flat on top so it can be used to boil large stock pots etc. and not be used exclusively for a wok.   https://www.roaring-dragon.com/en/.

The following is a Manniu X72. You will see that the burner can only is usable with a wok as the flame guard is not flat to allow another type of pot to be put on the burner. https://www.thewonderwok.com/

I plan to make my own Stainless wok cart and flush mount the Can in the table as you have seen in both of the links provided.   What is the ship time on your 16 for LP and what would the total cost be delivered to Liberty, SC 29657.

Outdoorstirfry:

Our PowerFlamer Propane 160 is out of stock but expect to be available in next couple weeks

Roaring Dragon is in Germany.  Wonderwok might be in USA.   Manniu 24KW X76/X72 is about 80kBTU/Hr, half of our PowerFlamer 160.    Our wok adaptor ring fins define a flat surface as well.  If your flat bottom pot diameter is >13″, you can put it on top of PowerFlamer 160 directly.

Let us know any further question.   Thank you.
