How to choose a natural gas stove?

Inquiry

Hello,  could you please help me select a natural gas stove. it’s for patio use, I have a natural gas line on patio.   thanks.

Outdoorstirfry

A few questions:

1.  Do you have a patio cooking island to build in the stove?  Or Is the stove going to be stand alone?

2. Do you have other appliance such as a grill already using your natural gas line?

3. Do you intend to remove the stove from the natural gas line after use?

4. Do you prefer restaurant style high heat cooking or just a bit higher heat than typical indoor stove?

5. Does your local code require fixed installation and you will hire a license plumber to install to your natural gas line?

Inquiry:

  1. No, stand alone or leave it on a table
  2. No
  3. Yes
  4. Just normal use, able deep fried dishes
  5. I don’t think so, i have a natural gas design for hook up a grill

Outdoorstirfry:

Thanks for your answer.

For a stand alone stove, we recommend EF13LQN50WG at https://outdoorstirfry.com/?page_id=321#EF13LQN50WG

For table top stove, we recommend the short leg version at https://outdoorstirfry.com/?page_id=321#EF13SQN50WG

Let us know if there is further question.

Thanks for your recommendations.  I worry about back fire and gas leak.

Outdoorstirfry:

Very good questions.

On back fire, do you worry back fire into the natural gas pipe?   This we never heard of.  Any gas will need to mix with oxygen from the air in order to burn.  Inside the pipe there is no oxygen.  I would not worry about this, especially with a turn off valve and a quick connect valve in between the stove hose and the gas supply pipe.

Back fire from the stove burner to the ignition head – possible when there is some blockage between the ignition head and the burner.  This type of blockage typically is caused by insect, such as spider, inside the burner pipes.  Our stove has mesh preventing this to happen.

For gas leak, any stove can develop gas leak when its components are aged, especially under outdoor environment.   Since you will remove the connection from the stove to the gas line after cooking, you remove this possibility when not cooking.   You will be able to smell the leak when you hook up the stove and turn on the gas line valve before cooking.  You should stop and find out where it leaks and have a fix before proceeding to cook.  We will provide help if you send video or picture of your setup.

Let us know if there is further question.

The attached is the gas pipe on the patio.  Does the diameter work?

Outdoorstirfry

Our stove quick connector set is of 3/8”.  Your pipe looks like either ½” or ¾”.   When installing our quick connector socket to your pipe, you will need to find a ½” to 3/8” or ¾” to 3/8” coupling which is readily available from your hardware store.

How long will the gas burner (PF13L160) last using the 1lb. propane bottle?

Inquiry

Quick question, for the models that can handle both the 20lb propane tank and the 1lb. portables propane bottle. How long will the gas burner last using the 1lb. propane bottle?

Outdoorstirfry

Our experience is that a bottle is sufficient for one night camping cooking for a family of 4.  To be sure, we usually bring two bottles.

Whether this model would stand up to all day use in a commercial setting?

Inquiry

Hello, I am interested in purchasing one or more of your products and I am trying to learn little bit more details about them. Specifically the model EF05CSP10TRI and/or the PF13CS160EI. With the modelEF05CSP10TRI my main question is whether this model would stand up to all day use in a commercial setting? So in other words, if I were to cook with this unit al day and even change the LPG tank several times, would the unit stand up to the heat and the usage?

My other question is with model PF13CS160EI and basically the same question about whether it will stand up to all day use in a commercial setting?

Thank you for your help!

Outdoorstirfry

Both EF05CSP10TRI and PF13CS160EI are well designed stove products that minimize heating to their own stove body parts.   They should be able to sustain commercial day long cooking activity.

Let us know any further question.

On the descriptions some stoves say configurable, what does that mean?  I really like your products so hopefully I can make this work.

Again thank you for your help!

Typical stove connection is to a 20lbs propane tank.   When we say configurable, the stove is capable of connecting to a 1lb propane bottle for light weight camping trip etc. besides a 20lbs tank.

additional accessories

Customer (PF13L160):

Hi, i have a question you don’t sell additional accessories to this equipment? I am looking for a plain ring to can use the fryer with normal pan not only with a wok?

Outdoorstirfry

The stove flame goes up high enough.  If your flat bottom pan is greater than 13”, you can just put on top of the stove.  My wife uses her flat pan this way.

Let us know any further question.

Propane regulator is defective and won’t allow propane from Propane tank and through the hose

Customer (PF13L160):

Propane regulator is defective and won’t allow propane from Propane tank and through the hose

Outdoorstirfry

The regulator has a leak protection feature. When activated, it reduces gas flow to the burner. Please re-read item 8 2~4 paragraphs of attached user guide. Before turning on the propane tank top valve, please shut off all stove valves (left and right). Turning on the tank valve there should be one immediate clicking sound from the regulator. After up to 1 minute, the regulator will give another clicking sound indicating completing its leak detection process. Only after this 2nd click, the burner can be turned on. Otherwise the regulator refuses to give full pressure.

Let us know if you still have problem getting full pressure. We did test every stove before shipping. It was functioning correctly before we ship to you.

Customer:

I followed your instructions and printed out the PDF you sent along with it I wished I would’ve had that information in the box when I receive the item . It now works great thank you,

Outdoorstirfry

We stop sending hard copy instruction more than 10 years ago. When we ship, we send out our customer the shipping information along with the installation guide in PDF.

Glad that you are able to overcome the problem.
