I believe I need to exchange the PowerFlamer I bought.

Feedback:

Hello, I believe I need to exchange the PowerFlamer I bought.  The flame produced by the burner does not appear to be very powerful.  In addition, I cannot adjust the flame because the regulator does not seem to work.  With the burner lit, turning the regulator cap either way does not change the strength of the flame at all.  I don’t think there is anything I could do myself to fix this, so I would like to exchange it for a new one that works properly. Please let me know the procedure for handling this.

Our Answer (if any):

Sorry for the problem.  There is a protection mechanism from the red regulator where it will not give any fuel flow (thus power) out if it is left at open position.  Can you try:

0. Turn off the propane tank valve

1. turn the red regulator off (all the way according to the arrow on the knob)

2. turn on the propane tank valve

3. gradually turn on the red regulator (quite a few turns) to hear the hissing sound

4. Ignite the burner

5. Adjust the power by the red regulator knob

If this still does not work, can we call you to understand more the situation and arrange for shipping it back?  We did test every stove before shipment to make sure their functionality.

Feedback:

Thanks for your reply. I’m not sure if what you described would explain what I observed.  You indicate that the protection mechanism for the regulator would not allow any fuel flow.  When I tried the stove, it had fuel flow and I could see the flame.  However, there was not much of a hiss when the gas came out and the flame, when lit, did not seem to be coming out with much pressure.  Turning the regulator cap did not change the fuel flow at all until it got almost all the way open, then it made a “pop” sound and the flame went out.  If you still think the steps you listed would help I can try it.  Please let me know.

I finally got a chance to try the steps you recommended and it worked out fine.  I got the stove to go from low power to very high power.  Thanks for the help.  Now I just need to get some stretches of good weather so I can get to use it a few times.  I appreciate your prompt attention to the issue I raised.

I have received the PF9L130 yesterday and it works great.

I have received the PF9L130 yesterday and it works great.  My wife is extremely happy with it.  The PF9L130 is my first experience with using a 20lb propane tank.  If the PF9L130 regulator and the propane tank is in the off position, is it safe to simply leave the propane tank connected to the PF9L130?  I find it troublesome to have to disconnect and connect daily for my wife.  Thank you and hopefully you don’t mind my ignorance in using propane.

Our Answer (if any):
If you or your wife already turn off the propane tank valve and the regulator after cooking, it is safe to leave the stove regulator connected to the propane tank.  The key is to shut off the tank valve and not to rely solely on the stove regulator in close position.

The PowerFlamer is all go!

Name:

Rosana, New Zealand (PF13L130+Stainless Wok Set)
Feedback:

The PowerFlamer is all go!! We tried it tonight for the first time and had a lovely stir fry meal!!
It was delivered by Courier Post which is linked to New Zealand Post.  No duty was needed to be paid.  We brought a reasonably decent sized gas bottle from the local gas store for around $50 NZD, that has been the only additional cost from the payment to your company.  The connection did not need to be changed or adjusted at all, it was hooked straight up to the gas bottle without any difficulty and away it went!!

Hope it is helpful for you to know that no change in connection is needed on this end and that the package arrives safe and sound via courier once in NZ.

The only problem was that the lid sent over is a lot smaller than the wok!!

Our Answer (if any): We are glad that shipping to NZ is much easier than some other countries.

Usually people use a smaller size lid than the entire wok surface for two main reasons:

1.  the dish to be cooked is usually much smaller than the wok.  A smaller lid can cover a smaller area to be heated up sooner.

2.  People tilt quite often to heat the food evenly to prevent tossing and breaking the food (such as Tofu).  An as big size lid as a wok will fall off and will not cover the wok surface tightly.

Thanks. Fair enough, we obviously cook way to bigger meals haha!  Thats all fine.
Thanks again for all your help, we are very pleased with our outside wok.
Cheers,

Hello there i bought your pf9inch stove and i must say that it is a very awesome stove that i can not keep up with , i have the original hand hammered carbon steel wok that seems to take a long time to get it seasoned ,the wok has the hammer markes still in it when i bought it is there ant tips you can give me on how to season it in a timely fashion , so i can cook the resturant quality food i am seeking ? But i must say it is an awesome stove …
Our Answer (if any): It is not surprise for a regular carbon steel wok to be fully seasoned in 3 months with almost everyday cooking with it. We do not have direct experience with a hand hammered wok, but you can tell us how long when you achieve it. We have a link here for general care of a steel wok: CareIronWare.
