Bottle and stabilizer?

Inquiry:

Hi. I’ve been on waitlist for this wok grill. What is a bottle? I need to buy stabilizer along with wok. Is there a cover for this?

Outdoorstirfry:

When we say bottle, it is usually a 1lb propane bottle people use for camping or hiking trip.  If you buy a long leg version stove and your cooking style involves tossing the wok, then we recommend you to have the stabilizers.   We don’t have a cover.  We just flip the wok upside down to cover the burner.  Let us know any further question.

Inquiry:

What does tossing the wok mean? Would it be better for me to buy wok from Chinese store?  Can the propane wok be interchangeable with the natural gas? I think it is with bar b que grills.   Thank you.

Outdoorstirfry:

When cooking a stir frying dish, time might be really short.  Tossing the ingredients is a quicker way.   You can buy a wok from a wok store.

The propane stove is not interchangeable with natural gas.

Inquiry:

Does the regulator for the tank and bottle on the PowerFlamer 160 fit the uk tank and bottles or are the American regulator different to the Uk ones thanks

Outdoorstirfry:

Good question.  We supply the ACME Type I QCC type tank connector.  In the past our UK customers don’t have problem finding adaptor to connect UK tank.

PowerFlamer suitable for outdoor kitchen?

Inquiry:

Can the PowerFlamer 160 be built in to an outdoor kitchen? Any restrictions on mounting it to a counter?

Outdoorstirfry

Our products are meant to be used in an outdoor environment.   If you want the stove on top of a counter, you only need buy the short leg version.   There is no need to cut a hole on the table underneath the stove.  There should not be any combustible material under the stove.   Wood and cardboard should not be used.   You can use various stone, brick or stainless steel.   One foot distance to wall minimum is recommended.

I’m trying to understand what your warning about the electronic ignition melting really means (for PowerFlamer propane 160 electronic ignition versions).

Inquiry:

I’m trying to understand what your warning about the electronic ignition melting really means and how that effects how to use the burner during cooking.

1)  Does your electronic ignition actually run on batteries and it has an on/off switch that can be left in the on position?  In it does have a switch that can be left in the on position then you are warning about the constant cycling of the ignition spark will melt the wires so the switch has to be turned off immediately after the pilot is lit?  Is this the condition you are warning about?

2)  Or do you mean your electronic ignition is actually a manual strike piezo electric ignitor and that the PILOT LIGHT cannot stay on after the main burner is lit or the wires will melt?  So what you actually mean is that the Pilot Light has to be turned off after the main burner is lit or the wires will met?  Is this the case?

3)  If 2) is the case does that mean I have to re-light the pilot every time I turn the main burner off during a cooking session?

4  If I order the manual version I can leave the pilot light running and only have to light it with a match once per cooking session.  Is that a correct statement?    Best regards,

Outdoorstirfry:

Very good questions.   Your 2), 3) and 4) are true.

Inquiry:

Thank you for your quick reply and for providing the detailed operational information and cautions on your new product design.  This is very helpful.   There are many design improvements so I see you are continuously upgrading your product and offerings.

I have found Kenji’s video’s very helpful and this is what got me trying outdoor wok cooking and indeed it was the restaurant style cooking and wok hei flavor I am after.   Best regards ,

PF160 MI or EI

Inquiry:

What is the difference between the two besides the price? Any added features with the EI? Where are they made? Please let me know when either is back in stock. Thanks.

Outdoorstirfry:

PowerFlamer Propane 160 Manual Ignition (MI) will need a long nose BBQ ignitor to ignite the burner and its pilot.  PowerFlamer Propane 160 Electronic Ignition (EI) has an electronic ignitor however it does not have a pilot.   Part of the products is made in Asia.  Part of it is made in USA.   We will open for order this weekend (of 2/9/2021).

Wok burner

Inquiry:

I am interested in buying a high quality wok burner. I live the Manniu. X76. how does your burner compare. What model would you have that would be comparable?

Outdoorstirfry:

Just to clarify, are you using a Manniu X76 now?   Where can we take a look at it?

Inquiry:

I do not have a Manniu at all right now. I love the infrared concept of the burner for its efficiency on gas. Her is a like to what it looks like. I like that the can has fins to hold the wok that are flat on top so it can be used to boil large stock pots etc. and not be used exclusively for a wok.   https://www.roaring-dragon.com/en/.

The following is a Manniu X72. You will see that the burner can only is usable with a wok as the flame guard is not flat to allow another type of pot to be put on the burner. https://www.thewonderwok.com/

I plan to make my own Stainless wok cart and flush mount the Can in the table as you have seen in both of the links provided.   What is the ship time on your 16 for LP and what would the total cost be delivered to Liberty, SC 29657.

Outdoorstirfry:

Our PowerFlamer Propane 160 is out of stock but expect to be available in next couple weeks

Roaring Dragon is in Germany.  Wonderwok might be in USA.   Manniu 24KW X76/X72 is about 80kBTU/Hr, half of our PowerFlamer 160.    Our wok adaptor ring fins define a flat surface as well.  If your flat bottom pot diameter is >13″, you can put it on top of PowerFlamer 160 directly.

Let us know any further question.   Thank you.

Cooking space

Inquiry:

Is there anything I can buy that will contain the cooking space, so the oil doesn’t spray to ground?

Outdoorstirfry:

You raise a very good question.   We are user of our own stove product for last 20 years.   We use our log leg version beside a table of cooking ingredients.  We put it on concrete ground and let oil go down freely to the ground.  The ground has a circle, about the same diameter of the stove, with dirt attracted to it.   Since it is outdoor, surrounding concrete is not that clean either, we are OK with it.    We place the stove next to a wall.  We do put cardboard on the wall to prevent splashed oil to the wall.

In case that you need your environment super clean after every usage, there are a couple options here:

  1. Build a stainless table for a short leg stove.   Splashed oil will be on the stainless table.  You can clean them after use.
  2. Place a short leg stove on a piece of flat stone such as granite.  Splashed oil will be on the stove smooth granite surface.  Cleaning should be easy.

Hope this helps.

The 160 Orifice

Inquiry:

Please let me know when restocked.

Outdoorstirfry:

We will email you when it is available for order around end of this month.  Happy New Year!

Inquiry:

Thank you very much! Is there somewhere I can find a photo of the burners orifices?

Outdoorstirfry:

We don’t publish that.   What data are you looking for?

Inquiry:

I was simply looking for a photo of what the burner configuration looked like and what material it was made from. Is it multiple gas jets, cast iron ring, etc. Theres many configurations and I was just curious as to why yours looked like.

Outdoorstirfry:

We will try to answer as best we can.  The burner has only one orifice.   The mixed air/fuel is carried to the burner with 4 rings of outlet holes where flame is ignited.  Bests.
Inquiry:

Thank you very much Dong. You answered my questions. What I meant by orifices was the “outlet holes” within the four ring burners. Between messages I found an old YouTube of you demonstrating how to light it which indeed showed  the burner ring. Looking forward to purchasing one!  Cheers.
Outdoorstirfry:
Great!
