ingenuity, dedication, and commitment to quality

Customer (PF13L160):

I am writing to thank you for your ingenuity, dedication, and commitment to quality. I have been using my brand new 160 (latest model) frequently since I received it. I am amazed at the quality of components, consistent results, and superior effectiveness of the centrally-focused burner.

In fact, I love it so much that I am only afraid of what I would do if any part broke? Is it possible to order spare regulators and hoses? That seems like the most likely point to fail.

Also, I am loving the updated pilot light design. It has been working flawlessly. I am excited to feed a small crowd!

Anyway, I just want to thank you again for bringing something truly fresh to the American market.

Outdoorstirfry:

Thank you for your good words.  We agree that the regulator is the most frequent part needs to be changed.  We usually support once customer reports of such failure.  We would discourage buying individual part as most people don’t know well enough how to restore the entire system.

Ceiling height?

Customer (PFL160EI):

What is minimum recommended distance from burner to ceiling? I will be using burner outdoors, underneath an awning.

Outdoorstirfry:

We have been cooking with our own 1st generation stove in last twenty years under an awning.   Ours is 7~8 feet in height.

Can the electronic ignition head be continuously lit during cooking?

Customer (PF13L160EI):

Am I correct that you can’t leave the pilot lit while cooking with the electronic ignition version?

Outdoorstirfry

The electronic ignition version does not have a pilot light.  The spark ignitor has an electric wire with insulation attached on it.  If you leave it lit, the wire insulation will melt and becomes useless.

Customer

When cooking should I turn the pilot light off or can it be turned down so If I turn the main burner off I can just turn main burner back on the pilot will light the burner. OR — if left on when cooking (not all the time) will it do some harm to the piezo unit? I do not want to melt any wires.

Outdoorstirfry

The electronic ignition head is designed to strike and to give a flame to the main burner.  It needs to be turned off after the main burner is on.   If the main burner is off, you will need to re-strike again.  The electronic ignition head can’t serve as a pilot flame.

Customer

Thank You, I thought that was the case. I needed reassuring.

What a wonderful Wok stove – it really works.

Which Model

Customer (PF13L160):

I cook Chinese food 3 times a week, have been to China a few times, and own more than twenty Chinese cookbooks. I realized that there is one absolutely crucial element to achieve wok hey, which is at the heart of Chinese cooking, and that is a powerful burner. No western burner is good enough for wok hey Chinese style. You need more than 50,000 BTUs for a number of preparations – good luck finding that even in a professional Western style restaurant stove. I searched wide and large for a suitable burner and I finally found it: the outdoorstirfry burner PF13L160 is the best in its class. It gives you more than enough power for ANY Chinese food preparation. A fantastic product. Get it, and then go to this Utube channel to learn how to use it: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCg0m_Ah8P_MQbnn77-vYnYw/videos. It truly is a different technique the one you need to master or you will eat ashes. A final word about Mr Dong. He is a terrific guy, always willing to help, and very prompt on the uptake when there is a problem to solve. Do yourself a favor and get the PF13L160. A new world of taste awaits you.

The only thing to work on in the future is to make it a little more rust proof…

Outdoorstirfry:

Thank you for your feedback.  Our next gen burners will be much more rust proof.

thanks-giving

Customer (PF13SFN160):

Want to say thanks (as in Thanksgiving) for the 160, short-legged.

The weather here in upstate New York has become very wintery, some snow and cold too, but did cabbage with garlic and peppers.  It works great, I would have chosen the “Mongolian” style burner too (I’ve seen it referred to as that somewhere).  It is jet engine force.  Most appreciate the way the  160 totally seems like was assembled in garage at home from available hardware store pieces, except of course for the burner parts and ring.  I show it off and wok away.

. . . drop on by and we will stir fry!

Happy Thanksgiving!   Thanks for the good words.   PF13SFN160 series is still in its early stage.   We don’t know where to find manufacturer for it yet.  So we home make it as you pointed out.   For natural gas, it seems jet type burner is the only choice to reach such power level.

I came across “Mongolian” burner before.  Please the link of it if you have it for me to confirm.  I believe it is using propane gas.   It is different from what you get from us.   It is close in construction to our propane PowerFlamer series like PF13L160 but I’m not sure it can reach as high power as our burners.

Thanks for the invitation.  Let us know any further feedback.

Bests of the season.

Thanks for the pictures.  The pot stickers are beautifully done.   I know your cookware is of cast iron type.

Is there any modification to the tip of the pilot light?

Customer (PF13L160):

Is there any modification to the tip of the pilot light that would make it easier to light and keep lit? The control valve is too sensitive and the flame is small and blows out frequently.

Outdoorstirfry:

Can you look at 2nd video at this link https://outdoorstirfry.com/?page_id=768 to see if it helps?   I agree that a small flame at windy condition outdoor will be difficult to remain lit.   In that case it is better to light the main burner before cooking for every dish.  We will try to improve on how it can be lit in next generation.  However I don’t think we can solve for the windy situation.  Let us know how it goes.

what is thin brass tube leading to the burner used for?

Customer (PF13L160):

Thank you so much! I am very excited to use this, and have been wanting one for several years. They look well engineered for wok cooking.  Cheers.

I received the 13″ wok burner and everything looks great. It set up in a breeze and we are very excited to use it. I think you have designed a very good product. Thank you!

Outdoorstirfry:

thank you.  Let us know any feedback after using it for a while.

Customer:

Will do thank you! Oh, one question. One of the dials controls pressure from the thin brass tube leading to the burner. When and what is this used for?

Outdoorstirfry:

The right valve is controlling gas to the thin copper tube as the pilot flame.  You can turn off the main burner between dishes if the pilot flame is lit.  We have a video (2nd one) on page https://outdoorstirfry.com/?page_id=768 on how to light the pilot flame.  Alternately you can choose not to use the pilot at all by turning the main burner really low between dishes.

Customer:

Ok that makes sense, thanks for clearing that up.  Cheers!

Wok burner is awesome!!! Very powerful, easy to use! Thanks again!

Outdoorstirfry:

this is great!  We are glad that you are satisfied.

hole in an outdoor kitchen tabletop

Customer (PF13SFN160):

Just got delivery yesterday (the PF13SFN160) and it looks great. Thank you!

Is there way to install it as a burner by making a hole in an outdoor kitchen tabletop? As in, have the grey wok ring above the countertop and most/all of the windguard and base below? Or is there a need to have airflow come in under the windguard such that the whole unit needs to be above the counter?

Sorry for the silly question , but figured you’d know best. Any photos of outdoor kitchen installations that your other customers have done would be most appreciated.

Outdoorstirfry:

The stove needs air inflow from bottom of the wind guard.  You can in-build the stove under the counter top.  But your hole needs to have holes that can supply air to the bottom of the wind guard/burner.   Hope we answer your question.

Is there any wok ring that can fit this burner?

Customer (PF13L160):

Thank you for sending the wok burner.  I was wondering, is there any wok ring that can fit this burner? The edges on the surface that the wok currently sits in are quite rough, and makes it difficult to flip on. Plus, it is scratching up the bottom of my wok.  Thank you.

Outdoorstirfry:

The bottom of your wok should not have any coating, scratching a bit is OK.   The little saw teeth on the wok ring adaptor are to hold on the wok when you tilt it during cooking.  These are probably the area scratching the bottom of your wok.    If we make these teeth too smooth, the wok will slip and can NOT be tilt.
